Decorated Ukrainian veteran killed by Russian troops near Hostomel

A decorated veteran, Captain Valera Chybinieiev (call sign ‘Karakurt’), was killed on his birthday, 3 March. He was 34 years old.

Quote by Zaitsev: ‘Hero of Ukraine, Captain Chybinieiev Valerii Viktorovych, died near Hostomel. Born an orphan in Berdiansk, Valerii was an honorary citizen of his city. He was a graduate of Zaporizhzhya Lyceum ‘Zakhysnyk’. Several years ago his only brother died in Donbas.’
Background: Chybinieiev was commander of a sniper company in the 79th Air Assault Brigade of Ukraine's Armed Forces.
In January 2015, he defended Donetsk airport near the runway.
Chybinieiev gained the Hero of Ukraine title in August 2016.
