Ukraine joins NATO centre on cyber security

This week the 30th meeting of the NATO Cyber Security Cooperation Steering Committee (CCDCOE) was held, where representatives of the 27 NATO member states decided to grant Ukraine the status of a NATO member of the CCDCOE.
This was reported by the ERR portal, European Truth reports.
"Ukraine's participation and presence in the CCDCOE will include the exchange of experience in cyber security between Ukraine and other member states of the centre. Ukraine has extensive direct experience in combating many large-scale cyber-attacks. Its contribution is important in research and training," said Jaak Tarien.
"Opportunities and skills are largely based on practical experience, and cooperation with Ukraine in the field of cyber security will certainly bring significant benefits to all members of CCDCOE. Estonia, as a host country of CCDCOE, has long cooperated with Ukraine to strengthen its capacity to provide cybersecurity, so we welcome the decisions of NATO members who have agreed to grant Ukraine the status of a CCDCOE member state," commented Kalle Laanet, Minister of Defence in Estonia.
An extraordinary meeting of the CCDCOE Steering Committee took place this week shortly after Ukraine's second application, in which Ukraine reaffirmed its continued interest in joining the CCDCOE. The centre has previously involved a non-NATO country.
Located in Tallinn, CCDCOE is a NATO-accredited cyber security centre and a think tank specialising in interdisciplinary applied research, analysis, information exchange, and cybersecurity training and exercises.
In early February, it was reported that Hungary blocked Ukraine's accession to the NATO's Joint Centre for Advanced Technology in Cyber Defence (CCDCOE).
