On Friday, Standard & Poor’s credit rating agency downgraded Belarus’ long-term credit rating from B to CCC.

Details: The downgrading means that, in the agency’s view, Belarus has significant difficulties with debt payments.

"The international sanctions imposed on Belarus over its participation in Russia’s military invasion of Ukraine are quite tough, and we expect them to continue to intensify," the agency said.

Earlier, S&P downgraded Russia’s rating from BB + to CCC, less than a week after the previous downgrade.
