For the fourth day in a row, residents of Melitopol also continue to demonstrate. Local activist Olha Haysumova said on social media that a few thousand protesters gathered in the city’s central square, Ploscha Peremogy [Victory Square].
Nearby, the Russian troops organised the distribution of food: Russian media covered this story on the previous day.
In response, activists bearing Ukrainian flags and a sign that read "Go to hell, killers" stood across from the Russian soldiers and chanted "Shame on you" and "Melitopol, rise up."
Afterwards, Melitopol demonstrators marched through the city centre, chanting "Occupiers", "Fascists," "We are the government here," and "Glory to Ukraine! Glory to the Armed Forces! Glory to the heroes!" People sang Ukraine’s national anthem several times.
Currently, in addition to the presence of Russian camera crews in Melitopol, the Russian military is surrounding the local TV tower, Radio Svoboda notes.
According to the Zaporizhzhya Regional Military Administration, the Russian military have installed their equipment there and have begun broadcasting Russian channels.
