Quote: "Yesterday, the Russians publicly stated that they are reducing their offensive actions and activity in the Chernihiv and Kyiv areas. Do we believe that? Of course not. And we remain ready for every eventuality. Facing the enemy in the Chernihiv region - we are ready for that too."
"The enemy demonstrated their ‘decrease in activity’ in the Chernihiv Region by striking Nizhyn, including by air, and spent the whole night hitting Chernihiv."
"Civil infrastructure is being targeted again - libraries, shopping malls and other facilities have been hit - many houses have been destroyed. Because, in truth, the enemy was targeting Chernihiv all night."
Background:
- Immediately after the round of negotiations between the Ukrainian and Russian delegations in Istanbul on 29 March, the head of Russia’s delegation Vladimir Medinkiy stated that the Russian army would "drastically reduce" its assaults in the Chernihiv and Kyiv directions.
- Later Medinskiy explained that the de-escalation of the military action by the Russian troops in these directions did not imply a ceasefire.
