It is possible that Russian troops will attempt to storm Mykolayiv on Friday, 4 February.

Details: The mayor hopes this will not happen. Otherwise the city will have to defend itself.

The mayor called on everyone to remain calm, to meet and coordinate, to prepare Molotov cocktails, and to cooperate with the Territorial Defence Forces.

Senkevych said that throughout Thursday, enemy troops were manoeuvring in the region, circling the city. Combat engineers are moving around, possibly to find a place to build a pontoon bridge and cross the river.

In the Bashtanka and Snihurivka districts, Russian troops were reportedly massing, with up to 1000 pieces of military equipment – tanks, armoured vehicles, rocket launchers, and supply equipment.

Senkevych also said that he spoke to the mayor of Mariupol, where "everything had been destroyed" - there was no water and power. Senkevych strongly recommended residents of Mykolayiv to stock up on drinking water."
