The Russian media has reported that Russians are complaining about the lack of money and difficulties in withdrawing cash.

Banks attribute this to the increased demand and the logistical difficulties related to Western sanctions.

- CNN journalists report that, according to their sources in US intelligence, in the last few days Russian President Putin has been in an extremely angered state due to the severe sanctions imposed by Western governments on the Russian economy.
- Mastercard has blocked bank cards issued by sanctioned Russian banks from executing transactions in any currency other than the ruble, effectively blocking them in all countries except Russia, where there is a back-up mechanism to avoid the block.
