Ministry of Foreign Affairs: No country will recognise Russia’s “referendums” in Donbas

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine is convinced that the international community will not recognise the results of the so-called "Luhansk People’s Republic referendum" on becoming part of the Russian Federation.
Source: Oleh Nikolenko, spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in an interview for Ukrainska Pravda
According to Nikolenko: "The Russian Federation is still attempting to undermine the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. Any fake referendums conducted in the temporarily occupied territories are juridically invalid and will have no legal force.
No country in the world will recognise the forcible change of the international recognised borders of our state. Instead, Russia will face an even more decisive response from the international community, which will accelerate its fall into the abyss of global isolation.
Background: The Russian government, in particular President Vladimir Putin, is trying to force Ukraine to recognise the so-called Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics as territories separate and independent from Ukraine.
Earlier:
- Leonid Pasichnyk, the leader of the illegal Russian formation of the so-called Luhansk People’s Republic, said that a "referendum" on joining the Russian Federation will soon be held, at gunpoint, among the inhabitants of the occupied territories.
- President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine stated that the final format of compromises on security guarantees and temporarily occupied territories in the negotiations between Ukraine and Russia could be put to an all-Ukrainian referendum.
