The United States of America and Ukraine are beginning their security dialogue in the 2+2 format at the level of the heads of their foreign policy and defence agencies.
This was announced by Ukrainian ministers after the start of the meeting with their American counterparts.
"We are meeting in the 2+2 format for the first time. We are discussing current issues and cooperation between the US and Ukraine in the political and defence areas", Ukrainian Defence Minister Oleksii Reznikov said, adding that he expects to provide details of the talks later.
The meeting is taking place in Warsaw.
"This special 2+2 format allows us to look for practical solutions in both political and defence spheres in order to strengthen Ukraine’s ability to fight back against Russian aggression", added Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba.
Their US counterparts, Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin and Secretary of State Antony Blinken, are now in Poland with President Joe Biden.
Reznikov reported that all four ministers "will attend the US president’s speech on Russia’s war against Ukraine" this evening.
As reported, the US is now preparing a plan of action in the event of Russian strikes on NATO territory.
Meanwhile, Ukraine is asking the United States to considerably increase supplies of Javelin and Stinger missiles.
