The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, called on Italy for support in the form of sanctions against Russia, including a full trade embargo and freezing of Russian oligarchs’ real estate.

His statement was made in an address to the Italian Parliament.

"You know those who brought war to Ukraine. You clearly know those who order war and those who promote it. Almost all of them use Italy as a place to go on holiday. So do not be a resort for murderers," Zelenskyy urged.

"Block all real estate, accounts, and yachts, from the "Scheherazade" to the smallest. Freeze the assets of all those who have influence in Russia, let them use it for peace, so that one day they can return to you," he added.

Zelenskyy called on Italy for support by means of maximum sanctions against Russia, with a full embargo on trade with the aggressor, including an oil embargo and a ban on Russian ships entering Italian ports.

He also stressed that there should be no exception to the sanctions against Russian banks, as the EU had previously cut off only 7 Russian banks from the international SWIFT system.

"Prevent a food crisis in your neighbouring regions, help us stop the killings, save Ukrainian families. This war must end as soon as possible, restoring peace, removing enemy troops from Ukraine, conducting demining operations and rebuilding Ukraine after this war, together, in the European Union," - Zelenskyy summarised.
