Details: The Russian Ministry of Defence spokesman, Igor Konashenkov, said that Russian aircraft never conducted an air strike on the drama theatre.
Igor Konashenkov unreasonably claimed that the theatre was deliberately blown up by soldiers of the ‘Azov’ Regiment to accuse the Russian invaders of bloody bombing.
Background:
Russian aircraft dropped a heavy bomb on the Mariupol Drama Theater in the city centre in the afternoon of March 16. The building sheltered about a thousand city residents who had lost their homes due to the aggressors’ shelling. Families with small children were hiding in the theatre, according to officials and military personnel. It is impossible to reach the rubble and verify casualties due to protracted ongoing hostilities.
Later it became known that the aggressors' planes raided the ‘Neptune’ pool facility, where pregnant women and children were hiding.
In addition, Russian invaders shelled a convoy of civilians leaving Mariupol. 5 people were injured and one child was in critical condition as a result of the attack.
Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk reported that the convoy with humanitarian aid did not reach the city on March 15, and normal conditions for the evacuation of the entire city population had not been met.
