Details: Wednesday, March 16, it became known that Skadovsk Mayor Alexander Yakovlev and his deputy were detained by the Russian military. At 12 o'clock residents of the city gathered for a peaceful rally, demanding the release of the city officials.
The people of Skadovsk chanted "Mayor", "Russian soldier - fascist and occupier", "Skadovsk is Ukraine". The Russian military, which occupied the city council, opened fire to disperse the rally. Tear gas was used against civilians.
It is reported that the shooting in the city centre lasted a long time.
There is currently no information about victims.
Why this is important: Residents of the enemy-surrounded and temporarily occupied cities and towns of southern Ukraine hold rallies every day and call on the aggressor to withdraw, comparing the Russian military with the Nazis. More and more often the Russian military starts firing during pro-Ukrainian rallies.
