Zelenskyy's live speech: "Since early morning, people have gathered,in the forever Ukrainian city of Melitopol, to protest against Russian troops, and against attempts to bring the city to its knees.
There are more than three thousand people in the square. Please, Moscow - take heed. Be honest - if only in Melitopol three thousand people come out against the occupiers, how many of your own must be against this war.
Yesterday the invaders took captive the Mayor of Melitopol Fedorov. The city community itself is demanding his release, and this is important. I am grateful to every Melitopol citizen for their defiance.
The invaders must see that they are strangers to our land.
Overnight and today we have been talking constantly with international partners about the situation with our city mayor. Our demand is simple - his immediate release from captivity.
We are specifically turning to all world leaders in communication with Moscow - France, Germany, Israel and all others "
Detail: Additionally Zelenskyy mentioned that the mayor represents all Melitopol, which is currently resisting its occupiers.
