Quote: "I appeal to the Belarusians. Railway workers, collective farmers, people of other professions, both civilian and military. Our intelligence says that today, your troops are advancing towards Ukraine. I ask you, I know, there are still honest people among you. Do everything in your power to stop your troops. In word and deed.
In word, try to convince [others]. In deed, if you're a railway worker, don't carry out a criminal order. Sabotage it. Don't transport equipment or troops to the border with Ukraine. If you are a collective farmer, place tractors on the railroad tracks. Don't let them pass".
Background: According to information from Ukrainian military sources and civil servants, Belarus is preparing to invade Ukraine by 21:00 on 11 March local time.
The Commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated that at 14:30 on 11 March, Russian planes took off from a Belarusian airbase, flew into Ukrainian airspace, turned around, and fired on villages near Ukraine's border with Belarus.
The Belarusian Ministry of Defence responded that the missile strike on villages on the Belarusian-Ukrainian border was "fake news".
