President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed the Syrian fighters who want to fight in Ukraine, and reminded them that Russia bombed their cities just like it is now bombing Mariupol and Kharkiv.

According to Zelenskyy: "This is a patriotic war. A war with a very stubborn enemy. An enemy that does not pay attention to thousands of its dead soldiers. An enemy that mobilises reservists and prisoners all over Russia in order to throw them into this hellish war.
An enemy that has decided to deploy mercenaries against our people. Thugs from Syria. From the country which was being destroyed in the same way that the occupiers are now destroying Mariupol and Kharkiv, Okhtyrka and Chernihiv, Volnovakha and Izyum.
This is how the Russian troops are treating the Russian-speaking people, the "defence" of whom has been talked about so much in Moscow. Rockets, air bombs, artillery. And now, Syrian mercenaries who cannot even distinguish between the languages people speak, the churches they attend, and what party they support.
Mercenaries, who are just going off to kill in a foreign land, foreign in every sense of the word."
Background: Russia’s President Vladimir Putin announced that he supports the mobilisation of volunteers from countries in the Middle East in the war against Ukraine.
