Source: RIA Novosti (in Russian), referencing Putin’s press secretary Dmitriy Peskov.
Quote: "No one rules out a meeting between Putin and Zelenskyy, conceptually it is possible, but first the negotiators must do their part," Peskov said.
Details: Earlier, a spokesman for Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that a meeting between Putin and Zelenskyy was possible in the near future.
Why it is important: President Zelenskyy regularly calls on the President of the occupying country, Vladimir Putin, to hold direct talks. However, Putin keeps avoiding them. On 3 March, President Zelenskyy announced that he was ready to sit down at the negotiating table with Putin, who started the war against Ukraine.
On 8 March, Zelenskyy reiterated his readiness to sit down at the negotiating table with Putin to discuss ending Russia's war against Ukraine.
Zelenskyy also said that Vladimir Putin was wrong to think that Ukrainians could be broken or forced to surrender. He also compared the desire to destroy Ukraine to a disease.
Background: On 10 March, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said that Russian President Vladimir Putin was not against direct talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
