The Ministry of Finance suggests cutting off the payment of student stipends starting in the new fiscal year, as their comment to Ukrayinska Pravda.Life suggests.

The Ministry explained that it had disseminated an instruction among budget administrators to develop their requests with regard to the draft of state budget 2017 and to the forecasts for 2018 and 2019.

The recommendations that go along with the instruction specify that education stipends will be cut off: "The Finance Ministry informed the Education Ministry that the education budget line for next fiscal year provides for paying stipends only to orphaned students, disabled students, students deprived of parental care and students from low-income families who receive state social support, as well as to PhD students."

If these recommendations will be followed, most bachelor and master students won’t receive a stipend starting January 1, 2017.

The Ministry of Education stated it was against this initiative.
