The occupying Crimean authorities are asking tourists to refrain from traveling to the peninsula in the coming days, according to the statement on the website of the Russian-controlled Kerch city administration.

"Kerch ferry crossing is working at peak load. Due to the large number of tourists, the city administration would like to warn you about possible waiting lines for up to 10 hours on the route Crimea — Caucasus," the statement says.

On August 7, a Crimean human rights advocacy group reported the arrival of a large amount of military equipment from Russia to Crimea through the ferry crossing in Kerch. On the morning of August 8, only one of the three checkpoints on the administrative border with Ukraine was working both ways.
