Only One of the Three Checkpoints on Crimean Border Is Open for Crossing
At about midnight on August 8, the land crossing at Kalanchak checkpoint was suspended again on the side of the annexed Crimea, spokesperson for the Ukrainian State Border Guard Service Oleh Slobodyan informs on Facebook on Monday morning.
He said that as of 7:30am, August 8 crossing is allowed both ways at Chongar checkpoint, but it is very slow, in Chaplynka only those who want to enter the occupied peninsula are allowed to pass, and Kalanchak checkpoint remains completely blocked.
"At the same time, the Russian Army remains active near the administrative border. On August 7, border guards observed flights of at least nine Mi-8 helicopters at the height below 1 km without violating the administrative border and 2 UAVs. In different areas, military vehicles, trucks and APCs approached the positions where Russian army personnel are stationed," Slobodyan said.
"The situation at the checkpoints at the administrative border with the temporarily occupied Crimea remains tense but under control," he concluded.
