Russia ‘to Introduce Service Contracts with Militants’ Amid Manpower Shortage
The Russian military command in the occupied Donbas came up with the idea to sign service ‘contracts’ with the militants, Ukrainian Defence Intelligence reported on August 6.
According to the report, the alleged service term for military officers is five years, for sergeants – three years and for privates – one year.
The investigation says that the military command drafted an order "considering the shortage of personnel and the growing hesitation to serve in Russian occupation forces."
"To prevent voluntary resignation, the servicemen will have to repay 75% of the salary they received in case of early termination of the contract upon their initiative," the report says.
