Militants ‘Shot Russian Officer Dead’
On August 5, the Main Intelligence Department of Ukraine claimed on its Facebook page that militants in the occupied parts of Donbas had shot a Russian military officer dead.
According to its statement, on August 4 the servicemen of the reconnaissance company of the 11th Makiivka regiment refused to perform reconnaissance on Government-controlled territory. Being threatened to be summarily executed on the spot, they allegedly shot dead the reconnaissance commander of the regiment — a regular Russian military officer.
Ukrainian intelligence also confirmed that during the day, five militants were killed and three wounded.
It also informed that Russia had changed the personnel of two tactic groups of its Armed Forces on the occupied territories of Ukraine and strengthened its positions on the Ukraine-Russia border. In particular, a new unit arrived to Russia’s Rostov Oblast from military bases in Russia’s midlands. "It is expected to be deployed in the occupied parts of Donetska Oblast to replace Russian servicemen who are there now," the statement reads.
In addition, the intelligence documents new supplies of fuel and ammunition.
Ukraine provided the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission with information on Russian and militants’ tanks, artillery systems, and Grad multiple-launch rocket systems deployed in Bokovo-Platove, Lozove, Debaltseve, Horlivka and Donetsk on the occupied territories.
