Correspondence Between Ukrainian TV channels and ‘DNR’ Leaked

Correspondence between an employee of the ‘security agency’ of the so-called Donetsk People’s Republic (DNR) with employees of Inter and Donbas TV channels has been leaked online, Detector Media reports.

Among the leaked letters there is correspondence between the Russian journalist Leonid Muravyov and the representative of the ‘Ministry of state security of the DNR’ Tatyana Yehorova. In 2015, Muravyov tried to get a job on Ukrainian Inter TV Channel, but was deported from Ukraine.

In one of his letters, dated May 25, 2015 Muravyov refers to ‘Masha’, who is most likely a former creative producer of Podrobnosti Nedeli [En: This Week in Detail] Mariya Stoliarova, when he reports to Yehorova about ‘punishment’ of Inter journalist Roman Bochkala for calling the DNR ‘terrorists’.

Detector Media says that this correspondence may be evidence that Stoliarova through Muravyov reported about the contents of news on Inter to the ‘ministry of state security of the DNR’. Stoliarova was also deported from Ukraine in February 2016. The full correspondence archive is available here.

Bochkala, who covers the military operations in Donbas, denies having been punished for using the word ‘terrorists’, but says this correspondence could have taken place: "I don’t know if it is real, but judging from the names and addresses I’d say it’s possible that it is."

According to Detector Media, monitoring information on Inter TV channel confirms that the word ‘terrorists’ were used in the Podrobnosti program more than once in May 2015, but starting from the end of May it was used less and less. The same tendency applies to other Ukrainian TV channels.

The volunteers who are studying the leaked correspondence also found evidence of ‘cooperation’ between the employees of Ukraine TV channel with the so-called DNR through journalist Serhiy Karpiy who works at Donbas channel.
