European Court of Justice annulled the sanctions against Viktor Yanukovych Junior, the younger son of Ukraine’s ex-president Viktor Yanukovych. The sanctions were introduced in 2014 after the Maidan shootings and the Russian occupation of Crimea.

According to Ukrinform, the decision of the ECJ was published at the court’s website.

Viktor Yanukovych Jr. filed a lawsuit to annul the restrictive measures and freezing of funds in the EU in 2014. In March 2015 he died in a car accident near lake Baikal in Russia. His widow decided to continue with the case.

Same year (in 2015) Yanukovych Junior was excluded from the sanctions list following his death.
