GPU Finalizes Investigation against Lavrynovych & Co
The Prosecutor General’s Office (GPU) finalized criminal investigation against Yanukovych-era Justice Minister Oleksandr Lavrynovych, his Deputy and chief accountant of the Ministry.
They are suspected of the abuse of power and embezzlement of ₴8.5 million (then equaling to $1.1 million) through procuring services of the U.S.-based law firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLР and Affiliates in the case Tymoshenko vs. Ukraine considered by the European Court of Human Rights, GPU informs.
The investigation believes that foreign attorneys were engaged "to conceal the violation of law during Ukraine’s court consideration of the case against Tymoshenko," and the very procurement is named ‘unjustified and illegal.’
