NAU President Bribetaker Had ₴4.5 Million, Gold Bars and Bank Cards at His Home
During the search in the apartment of the detained acting President of the National Aviation University Volodymyr Kharchenko, cash in various currencies total worth of ₴4.5 million and 10 bank cards were found, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) reported on August 27.
The National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) clarified that Kharchenko kept money in hryvnias, dollars, euros, pounds and other currencies. Nine bars of gold were also seized.
An official suspicion note is being developed, the NABU added.
The SBU detained Kharchenko on August 26 as he involved an attorney into solicitation of a €170,000 bribe from a professor who wanted a position in the University.
The criminal proceeding is underway.
The Education Ministry dismissed Kharchenko from the National Aviation University.
He is now in hospital allegedly due to the high blood pressure.
