Herashchenko: Police Officers Will Be Punished for Kryve Ozero Death
MP and member of the Ministry of Internal Affairs board Anton Herashchenko stated on Facebook that the police officer guilty of the man’s death in Kryve Ozero will be punished according to the law.
"The police officer who shot a man in Mykolaiv oblast will receive a notice of suspicion on Thursday and go to the pretrial detention center," Herashchenko claims.
"We won’t have another ‘Vradiivka’ [anti-police riot], which Viktor Yanukovych’s associates, first of all former Ministry of Internal Affairs Oleksandr Zakharchenko, are dreaming of," he added.
Herashchenko also expressed his condolences to the family of the killed man, Oleksandr Tsukerman, and said that "the guilty police officer will receive a strict sentence, so that it serves as a warning to other law enforcement officers."
According to Herashchenko, "the state is obliged to pay compensation to the family of the killed man if the court finds the police officer guilty of his death."
