Poroshenko: Normandy Format to Be Revived
The Normandy format of talks on the Donbas conflict will be revived soon, President Poroshenko highlighted during a meeting with Ukrainian diplomats on August 24.
"My talks with leaders of Germany and France carry hopes that the Normandy format will be revived shortly, irrespective of any allegations," he claimed.
According to him, the sanctions against Russia should be preserved and up-scaled "until the complete termination of aggression, full withdrawal of Russian occupation troops from Ukraine and full-fledged restoration of the territorial integrity of Ukraine," Poroshenko added.
The President hopes that international partners are aware of how counterproductive and dangerous are ideas "to ease or even lift the sanctions."
"We do expect strong support from our closest allies – including Poland – that not only understand the Russian danger but also directly suffered from it throughout their history," Poroshenko added.
