Darnytsia Thermal Heating and Power Plant Dumping Waste in Kyiv Lake (Video)

For many years, Darnytsia Thermal Heating and Power Plant has been dumping dangerous waste from in one of the biggest green areas of Kyiv, EkoMaidan environmental activists report on Facebook.

"Because the owners violate the law, poisonous substances and waste spread across the most populated districts of the left bank [of the Dnipro River in Kyiv]. The result is shocking – Hariachka Lake is ruined," the statement says.

The activists draw attention to the fact that nobody gave permission for such barbaric destruction of Kyiv"s natural resources. The authorities confirm, but nothing can be done about this right now.

There is a new apartment complex near the ruined lake. And a working kindergarten a hundred meters away.

Darnytsia Thermal Heating and Power Plant is owned by Euroreconstruction [Yevrorekonstruktsia] company where the final beneficiary is an offshore company from Cyprus, related to the MP Anatoliy Shkribliak.

The activists are demanding that the authorities audit the activities of the Thermal Heating and Power Plant and punish the culprits.
