Lutsenko: Prosecutor Sus Was Threatened
Prosecutor Dmytro Sus was threatened with attempted murder because of his involvement in the investigation of Ukrgazvydobuvannia, thus he carefully monitored who was surveying him. Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko said this on August 18 at a joint briefing with NABU Chief Artem Sytnyk.
"A number of witnesses were interrogated during the case, and a key witness was ostentatiously shot on a street in Kyiv. We received information that Sus could be the next victim," Lutsenko explained.
According to Lutsenko, on August 12, Sus noticed that someone was surveying his office. The GPU officers detained these persons at about 1 p.m., and they only told they were from NABU at 8 p.m. All the actions of GPU officers against the detained persons were lawful, Lutsenko asserted.
NABU Chief Artem Sytnyk claimed that all the activities of the NABU detectives were legitimate, and their interrogation had begun only eight hours after they had been detained.
According to him, the NABU detectives were investigating a case of corruption in the department of the GPU where Sus was working. "We are not concerned with the findings of the GPU investigation, because we have all documents to prove that our actions were lawful," Sytnyk summarized.
