Lutsenko and Sytnyk Discuss Conflict between GPU and NABU
Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko, NABU Chief Artem Sytnyk and Lead Anti-Corruption Prosecutor Nazar Kholodnytskyi met to discuss the clash between the GPU and NABU officers that took place on August 12, Lutsenko reported on August 17.
Lutsenko said that he met President Poroshenko and heads of all law enforcement bodies on this matter. "We agreed with the NABU and SAP that we had common goals and common responsibility. We will organize a briefing tomorrow," he added.
The conflict between the two agencies escalated on Friday, August 12, when GPU officers detained NABU detectives who were conducting court-ordered surveillance of GPU prosecutor Dmytro Sus. On August 15, the SBU joined the attack against NABU, accusing one of its employees of alleged corruption as she worked as a trainer three times.
NABU Chief Artem Sytnyk flared up over this accusation and claimed that this employee did not violate any law, because public servants are permitted to provide training sessions.
