Avakov Announces Decrease in Number of Generals

Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov has announced a planned decrease of the number of generals in his Ministry. He says that he submitted the project on this to President Petro Poroshenko.

According to the project, out of 74 generals in the State Border Guard Service (about 42,000 service personnel), only 14 posts will remain. In the National Guard (46,000 service personnel), the reduction will be from 38 to 18.

It is planned to reduce the number of generals in the Emergency Services by six (73,000 service personnel) and rationalize 15 general posts from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Police (175,000 service personnel).

In total, it is planned to remove 99 general positions in the restructured Ministry of Internal Affairs.
