Court Terminates Gas Agreement With Company Linked to MP Onyshchenko
Kyiv Economic Court of Appeals terminated a cooperation agreement between Ukrgazvydobuvannia (UGV) state-owned gas producer and Nadra Geocenter, a company affiliated with MP Oleksandr Onyshchenko, Ukrayinski Novyny reports.
In the appeal, UGV was represented by the Prosecutor General’s Office that during the hearing provided evidence that Nadra Geocenter was selling natural gas at an underestimated cost, which led UGV to suffer losses as a part of the cooperation agreement.
In particular, between January 2014 and June 2015, Nadra Geocenter sold 426.1 million cubic meters of gas for ₴1.927 billion when the market value according to expert evaluation was ₴3.084 billion. In addition, UGV explained its wish to terminate the agreement by the fact that Nadra Geocenter did not fulfil its investment responsibilities and did not pay its tax duties on time.
In May, Kyiv Oblast Economic Court satisfied the claim of UGV to terminate the cooperation agreement with Firma Hus company, where MP Onyshchenko is a shareholder.
On July 5, the Verkhovna Rada ruled to lift immunity from MP Onyshchenko and allow his arrest. He claims to be in London preparing a court defense of political prosecution.
