Naftogaz Denies Gazprom Claim of Sales to Ukraine
Russian Gazprom said it had supplied 1.2 billion cubic meters of gas to Ukraine over January-June 2016, while according to Naftogaz, Ukraine did not import Russian gas in 2016 at all.
This means that if this gas was provided it was sent to the Occupied Rayons of Donetska and Luhanska Oblasts (ORDLO). This was reported by Ukrayinski Novyny with reference to the quarterly reporting data of Gazprom.
According to this report, 1 billion cubic meters of gas were allegedly supplied to Ukraine in January-March 2016, while the remaining 200 million was supplied in the second quarter. As of June 30, Naftogaz allegedly had to pay Gazprom $2,898 million, while in the end of first quarter Naftogaz owed $2,856 million, the Russian monopolist claims.
Gazprom claimed earlier that it had supplied 1.7 billion cubic meters of gas to the ORDLO throughout 2015.
Thus, from February 2015 – June 2016 it allegedly supplied 2.9 billion cubic meters in total to the ORDLO.
In May 2016, Naftogaz stated it would not pay Gazprom for gas allegedly provided to the ORDLO. The Ukrainian company insists that it doesn’t procure gas through Prokhorivka and Platove gas measuring stations. Thus, it doesn’t have to pay the invoice issued by Gazprom.
Naftogaz claims it hasn’t bought Gazprom gas since November 2015 and before this the Ukrainian company was buying gas only through measuring stations on Government-controlled territories.
