Victims’ Lawyer: Berkut Officers Were Tipped Off to Escape
One of the reasons 16 Berkut officers involved in the Maidan shootings escaped and left Ukraine in 2014 was an information leak, ‘Heavenly Hundred’ lawyer Roman Maselko said on Wednesday during a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Preventing and Combating Corruption.
"Five officers are on trial now, but there were many more. We know that in July 2014, 16 Berkut officers left the country a day before their planned arrest. Some went to Crimea, and some went to Russia," he said.
Maselko claims all of them escaped because of information leaks.
