Court in Zakarpattia Seizes Two Train Wagons Filled with Wood En Route to the EU
Uzhhorod City Court seized two train cars with wood, the export of which to the EU is banned, Zakarpatska Oblast Governor Hennadiy Moskal reported.
"The court considered the first protocol on violations of customs rules by Ukrainian companies that export wood to EU countries," he noted. The customs declaration stated that a total of 1,000 tons of fuel wood was transported in two train cars to a woodworking company in Slovakia. However, it appeared that the actual weight was 35% less, and a portion of the wood was industrial rather than fuel wood, while the former type of wood is banned for export from Ukraine, Moskal stressed.
The court fined the exporter by seizing all the wood. A total of 92 protocols on similar violations will be considered by the courts soon. They concern an attempted export of wood through Zakarpatska Oblast in violation of Ukrainian law.
