First Local Elections Taking Place in Three Amalgamated Communities

On July 31, the first elections of local councils and heads take place in three amalgamated territorial communities in Rivnenska and Kharkivska Oblasts, the Regional Development Ministry reported.
The amalgamated communities were established after the respective law was adopted in 2015. This is part of local government reform. Such communities voluntarily unite several neighboring villages or small towns to improve local self-government. The elections will create the authorities of the newly-established communities.
On August 28, local elections will take place in seven more amalgamated communities in Vinnytska, Volynska, Zaporizka and Rivnenska Oblasts.
