Balczun: Railways Reform Takes a Long Time

The Head of Ukrainian Railways (UZ) Wojciech Balczun admitted that reforming the sector will be a long process in an interview to Hromadske.

"I am convinced that Ukrainian Railways reform will be successful, but we know from the world experience how long it takes to reform railways," Balczun said.

He said that the major problem that the company faces is corrupt procurement schemes. In the nearest time, it is expected that UZ will join the ProZorro system for transparent procurement. "We are aiming to increase the competition between the suppliers as much as possible, which will allow us to save billions," he said.
