Journalist Beaten in Kyiv

Two unknown men beat the chief of the business media outlet Business.Censor Serhii Holovniov on the night of July 25 in the Kyiv district of Podil, not stealing his belongings. He believes the accident is related to this professional activities.

Holovniov reported this assault on his Facebook page. He admits that the perpetrators shadowed him from his office. According to him, it was not regular hooliganism — the assault was well planned, because he was not able to see the faces of attackers. It wasn’t a robbery either, because they took neither his bag nor phone.  

The journalist filed a police report, but he doesn’t expect any result of investigation.

"I have no clue of what was the reason. During the past month, I was working on a dozen topics. But I never accuse people, I just provide facts. Moreover, I never refuse to voice the opinions of all sides of my stories," Holovniov stressed. It is the first incident of this kind in his 10-year media career, he told.

"Thank you that you did not kill me. Other colleagues were not that happy. But what depresses me the most is how easy they can do everything and still enjoy impunity," Holovniov uttered.
