Nationalists Not Going to Engage into Clashes with the Cross Procession Attendees
Pravyi Sector [Ukr: The Right Sector] is going to provide civic security during the Cross Procession of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Moscow Patriarchate (UOC MP) on July 27 in Kyiv, Ukrayinski Novyny cite Pravyi Sector press secretary Artem Skoropadskyi.
"Our mission would be to provide order and prevent provocations on the side of Cross Procession attendees," he stated. According to Skoropadskyi, the procession aims to fuel clashes in Kyiv downtown.
Civic Corps of Azov also commit not to interfere with the Cross Procession, its press secretary Oleksandr Alfyorov told to Interfax-Ukraine. "We won’t take part in the provocations organized by the Moscow Patriarchate," he highlighted.
Representatives of both organizations believe that the authorities had to ban the Cross Procession.
About 50 activists of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN) established a camp on the Kyiv—Zhytomyr highway to block the Cross Procession from entering Kyiv. The UOC MP stated that the Cross Procession would come to Kyiv irrespective of this blockade.
According to the Main Intelligence Department of Ukrainian Defense Ministry, Russian intelligence agencies want to use the Cross Procession to organize provocations.
Metal detectors and passport control points will be established in Kyiv for the participants of the Cross Procession
Boryspil City Council banned the Cross Procession from entering the city.
