Lutsenko: Staff of Office of Inspector General to Be Selected Soon
The announcements for positions in the Office of the Inspector General in the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine will be posted soon, Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko said on 112 Channel on Saturday, July 23, Interfax Ukraine reports.
He said that the employment commission will be chaired by former Assistant Attorney of the U.S. Attorney’s Office Bohdan Vitvitsky.
Lutsenko said that it is planned to establish the Office of Inspector General, similar to the one in the U.S. Department of Justice, which will oversee integrity and counter corruption in law enforcement.
"The staff for the Office of the Inspector General will be selected through competition. The announcement will be posted soon. It is likely that Bohdan Vitvitsky will chair the selection commission, and through the interviews we will hire staff for the body that will identify bribe-takers, thieves, and turncoats — this is what the old Soviet dinosaur called the General Prosecutor’s Office has needed for a long time," Lutsenko said.
