Lutsenko: There will be no Cover-Up for Kulyk
Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko says he is not going to cover anything up for Military Prosecutor Kostiantyn Kulyk, even considering his important contribution to the investigation of Serhiy Kurchenko.
Indeed, "the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) is investigating the case against Kulyk, and by no means will I cover up for him," Lutsenko said on 112.Ukraine TV Channel.
"If the court proves that Kulyk has illegally enriched himself, he will be prosecuted like anyone else. But before the court verdict, I have to state that he plays an important role in investigation of Kurchenko’s alleged offences," Lutsenko added.
Commenting on the statement of the NABU Chief Artem Sytnyk that the decision to indict Kulyk "had been made before he was squeezed into the team of investigators in the Kurchenko case," Lutsenko asserted that Kulyk was involved in this investigation as far back as one year ago.
"At that time, the case was ‘frozen’ due to a lack of political will of the GPU management. Now such political will is available. Kulyk is very important for us, because he has an entire understanding of the criminal gang of Kurchenko and Klymenko. Nevertheless, if found guilty, he won’t be covered up for," Lutsenko underlined.
The NABU has been investigating Kulyk’s case since March, as he did not declare a number of luxury cars and real estate in Kyiv.
