Lviv Forestries Employees’ Homes Searched by Prosecutors

In relation to illegal logging, new Lviv oblast prosecutor Yuriy Kviatkivskyi has carried out over 10 searches at the homes of employees of forestries authorities in the oblast, Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko wrote on Facebook.

"We are finally bringing justice to those who register Ukrainian logs as firewood and sell to the EU. The formal losses for the state are ₴6.5 million. It is really about the ecocide of the Carpathians," the Prosecutor General wrote, adding that the most important task for the newly appointed prosecutors of the western oblasts is to stop wood smuggling.
