Shkiriak Outlines Three Lines of Enquiry into Sheremet Murder
Advisor to the Minister of Internal Affairs Zorian Shkiriak says that the investigation is preliminarily considering three main lines of enquiry into the murder of Ukrayinska Pravda journalist Pavel Sheremet in a car bomb attack: professional activities, hostile personal relations, and the ‘Russian trace,’ he told the journalists from the scene on Wednesday, July 20.
Shkiriak said that although the professional activities of the journalist were the most likely version, law enforcement could not discount other possibilities as well. Former Advisor to the Minister of Internal Affairs Anton Herashchenko also mentioned the possible ‘Russian trace’ earlier.
At the same time, spokesperson for Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office Nadiya Maksymets said on 112 TV channel that another theory that the detectives are considering is that this was an attempted murder of Olena Prytula, founding editor of Ukrayinska Pravda, who owned the car. She added that the detectives were now working on the scene near the house of Sheremet and Prytula where the car was parked during the night.
According to the preliminary information, journalist Pavel Sheremet died as a result of the detonation of an improvised shell-less explosive device, which was likely guided remotely.
