President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said that he was concerned with the situation in Turkey. He posted a related message on his Facebook page.

"I am concerned with the dangerous turn of events in Turkey, a country we have friendly relations with. The basic principles of democracy should be respected. Ukraine supports the democratically elected President and the government of the Republic of Turkey," Poroshenko said.

He also tasked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the embassy of Ukraine to "take care of the Ukrainian citizens of the Turkish territory."

The President also ordered the law enforcement authorities to strengthen control in the airports and on the southern borders of Ukraine.
