UNESCO Demands Outdoor Advertising Be Removed Near Sophia Cathedral in Kyiv

UNESCO demands that Kyiv city authorities take down outdoor advertising in the St. Sophia Cathedral buffer zone, Deputy Mayor Oleksiy Reznikov said.

"[During the 40th UNESCO session in Istanbul] it was decided to keep St. Sophia Cathedral and Lavra in Kyiv on the list of World Heritage objects. However, the resolution also has a strict warning to take down outdoor advertising in the buffer zone."

Reznikov said that Kyiv city authorities will comply with the requirements of the international organization.
