Cabinet of Ministers Dismissed Chief Sanitary Doctor Accused of Bribery

The Cabinet of Ministers dismissed the Chief Sanitary Doctor of Ukraine Sviatoslav Protas suspected in bribery, the government’s web-site reports.

Protas was detained by the NABU and police on June 30 when he was cashing a first tranche of money he embezzled. Interior Minister Avakov informed on that day that a group of state officials headed by Protas had "developed and implemented a criminal scheme for embezzlement of large amounts of state funding."

They were detained while the very first tranche worth ₴400 thousand ($16 thousand) has been converted into cash.

On July 2, Solomianskyi District Court of Kyiv released him from custody on ₴413 thousand ($16.5 thousand) bail.
