Moldova will keep trade restrictions for Ukraine in place, including quotas for dairy and meat products and increasing import duties until the end of 2016, but not later, Moldovan Economy Minister Octavian Kalmyk stated at a press conference in Kyiv, UNIAN reports.

"Trade between Ukraine and Moldova decreased many-fold. In particular, our exports are as low as $40 million, while imports are approximately $600 million. Nevertheless, we still introduced trade restrictions. We agreed that it would be a temporary measure – we won’t extend it after 2016," he said.

He stressed that Moldova supports balanced development of economic relationships with Ukraine and is primed to lift trade barriers. Restrictions on the import of Ukrainian goods were introduced on May 13.
