Samopomich Slam ‘Secret’ Election Law for Occupied Territories
Oleg Bereziuk, the head of the Samopomich faction in the Verkhovna Rada, thinks that the current parliament is not fulfilling its obligations, he said on July 12 from the parliamentary tribune, surrounded by MPs.
He said that the average income was currently lower than the living wage, and the parliament needs to adopt laws that would allow "people to survive." He also said that corruption in the country started from selling seats in the parliament, and that parliament was not fulfilling its duties by not changing the members of the Central Election Commission and not adopting the election law that would "prevent preliminary elections and stop or considerably decrease this corruption."
"This parliament has not recognized the occupation, has not recognized the aggression and war of Russia against Ukraine. This has many legal, social, and everyday life consequences for millions of people in our country," Bereziuk said. He added that instead of doing what needs to be done for the country, the parliament was "secretly working on the election law for the occupied territories." Bereziuk called this "a crime against the Ukrainian people and history, which endangers the sovereignty and integrity of the country."
