Opposition Bloc Mass Resignation ‘Won’t Stop the Work of Parliament’
According to the Constitution, Opposition Bloc won’t stop the powers of the Parliament even if 150 MPs step down, People’s Front MP Leonid Yemets commented on his Facebook page regarding a statement from Opposition Bloc MP Yuriy Boyko.
"The Constitution sets forth that once at least two thirds of MPs are registered by the Central Election Commission, the Parliament is effective. No new election is possible if 150 MPs resign," he explained.
"However, I support the idea of Opposition Bloc MPs resigning. By and large, the country would benefit from it," he added.
On July 11, Boyko stated in the Parliament that all Opposition Bloc MPs might step down to create grounds for dissolving the Parliament and holding a new election.
