On July 1, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko presented 100 bicycles to municipal police officers, as Ukrayinska Pravda was told by the Mayor’s Office.

The police officers will be given Corratec BK 21099 X-Vert Halcon 650b bicycles produced by IKO Sportartikel Handels GmbH – the company that provided bicycles for the Turkish police. They were procured with the financial support of ONUR Taawut Tasimcilik Insaatve Ticarct Anonim Sti. The bicycles cost from ₴10-12 thousand ($400-500).

Kyiv Council member Oleksandr Pabat shared a photo on his Facebook page of several dozen bicycles in front of the Mayor’s Office. He said he considers this model of bicycle convenient for patrolling a big city.

Kyiv’s bicycle police service was announced on April 28. On May 1, the bicycle patrol department started hiring new officers.
